Glen Oaks Big Sur Wedding // Stacy + Andrew

Stacy & Andrew decided to elope in Big Sur with just a few close family members and myself as their witnesses! We spent their kickass day with them getting ready together, us sipping whiskey together, vows by the beautiful river, having way too much fun with Office jokes, and being self-proclaimed nerds - so basically, all the best things! Stacy & Andrew

When you know, you know! After just t a few months in, Stacy and Andrew already knew they found their soulmates. As Stacy put it, “I knew that I wanted a life of fireplace cuddles, drinking too much whiskey while dancing to Matt & Kim, and hearing ‘that’s what she said’ at inappropriate moments with this man.” I loved that so much! By the way, can you tell their huge fans of The Office? This is definitely something we bonded over throughout their entire elopement day! If you’re a fan too, and you remember Pam and Jim’s wedding – which makes me cry every time I watch it – Stacy actually had Andrew’s wedding band engraved with “Plan A was marrying you a long time ago.” - said by Jim Halpert - I’m dead. I love that so so much! They knew they wanted to elope, so that their day was just for them, and no one else. An ideal day for them consisted of exchanging written vows in Big Sur where they took their first trip together, a champagne toast, and then some cuddles next to an outdoor fireplace. And yep – that’s exactly what they did!

I’ll start with their proposal story, on Stacy’s birthday, Andrew bought a crown for her to wear for the day, and they went wine tasting at Orfila Winery in Escondido, CA! They sat outside and talked and drank, and Andrew suggested going for a walk in the vineyard where he had a table set up with a bottle of wine and flowers, and he got down on one knee! Their elopement day was just as sweet…And these two are just such awesome and fun-loving people all around, with great senses of humor! They love nature, camping, Disneyland, The Office, Parks and Rec, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and day-drinking beer and whiskey. Yep, my kind of couple!

Stacy and Andrew rented out some cozy cabins at Glen Oaks Big Sur, surrounded by majestic redwoods and right next to the Big Sur River for their beautiful summer elopement in the forest. Eloping comes with so many awesome perks, and your day can be as relaxed as you want, as spontaneous as you want, with time to actually spend together enjoying your day, and really doing things your way! One of the many decisions you get to make is whether anyone will be joining you, so how many guests or witnesses will be there if any. Stacy and Andrew opted to have a super intimate day, with just Stacy’s parents and her brother who was their officiant! I think it’s so special when loved ones get to officiate your wedding – officiating a loved one’s wedding is actually on my bucket list!

They were going for a woodsy modern vibe, with dark and moody feels, and because Big Sur and Glen Oaks are just so gorgeous as-s, they didn’t even need any décor! The greenery behind the river also made a beautiful backdrop on its own – that’s why it’s so freaking amazing to get married in nature! Stacy wore a white sequin strapless wedding dress by Lulus and some Jeffrey Campbell wedges, and Andrew wore a dark navy blue suit by Zara with black matte accessories. Remember how I mentioned they’re Harry Potter fans? Andrew actually found a Harry Potter Deathly Hallows black tie and a Deathly Hallows pin to wear with it! So unique! And Stacy got so creative and even did all the florals herself, inspired by a wild look for her bouquet with ferns for greenery and burgundy accents with a black velvet ribbon. They also brought along a Pendleton-inspired blanket for some cuddles when it got chilly in the evening.

I absolutely loved their approach to their day, they were so chill and everything was so relaxed and fun! They even said they were down for rain, down for getting their clothes wet, and in Stacy’s words “f*** it, we’ll get in the river and get some awesome shots.” You better believe they did just that! But more on that later…Stacy and Andrew got ready at The Little Sur Cabins there at Glen Oaks. Another of the many perks of eloping and crafting a day that feels exactly like you, is that you can choose how you get ready! Stacy and Andrew decided to get ready together, which I think is so sweet and more couples should definitely do it! Stacy was most excited to say their vows to each other and Andrew was most excited to be getting married by the Big Sur River where they had their first camping trip together!

They actually let me pick out their ceremony spot for them, which is always such an honor! I love helping my couples like this and it means so much when they bring me into these special decisions. We all walked together to the spot not far from their cabin and Stacy walked down an aisle of sand and dirt through the forest, the beauty of a wild ceremony spot! With Stacy’s brother officiating, they started their intimate and emotional ceremony by the river, and he was tearing up and made us all misty-eyed too! Stacy and Andrew said their vows and had a whiskey bottle and glasses just a few feet away that we all sipped from to toast them right after! We spent their day cracking Office jokes, sipping whiskey, and being self-proclaimed nerds together – it was honestly perfect! Even Andrew had a special request for his groom photos, he wanted to do Michael Scott’s little twirl move from the Shareholder Meeting episode of The Office!

P.S. Stacy and Andrew actually went on their Honeymoon before their wedding, they went to Rome and the Amalfi coast – how dreamy! Their advice for future couples would be: “The person who remembers your wedding day the most is the two of you.” I couldn’t agree more!
